FEN CAFE & RESTAURANT II

This is the second Fen designed by SOSA. A contemporary space within Sharjah’s oldest tower, The corner unit is situated on the Corniche Street. Featuring a small footprint of 50 square meters serving area, it is a Pop-Up Café with limited menu choices in comparison to the previously larger flag-ship restaurant at Zero Six Mall. Following the narrative of the brand, the main design objective of the branch was to create a modern and minimal space with a few elements reminiscent of the flagship location. By contrast with the surrounding shops and traditional architecture of the building, this approach may as well help promote the brand.

The project presented the primary challenge of accommodating and combining the serving area, counter, and restrooms within a narrow space. We were nevertheless concerned with creating a sense of spaciousness and airiness in spite of horizontal restriction. As a result, we have created a large vertical space by installing high ceilings and long pendant lights. Using bright, limited finishes and materials was another solution.
